Starting the Change
Earlier today, I twittered with Barry O'Farrell regarding my issues for NSW. Given I only have 140 letters to express this, I mentioned:
- Traffic & Resource Infrastructure
- Government Land Release
- Health (Mental Care & Hospitals)
Of course, the Liberal NSW Leader agreed, and directed me to a website of his - "startthechange.com.au"
I checked it out.
The Liberal/Nationals have 5 Top Priorities, but from the policies listed, I have commented on those I feel are more pressing.
The NSW Liberals & Nationals will oppose Labor plans to compulsorily acquire family homes
Faced by the realisation that their planning policies over 15 years have failed thousands of homebuyers, the NSW Labor Government has confirmed it will create a new planning body, with new government powers to compulsorily acquire private homes and property.
NSW Labor confirmed in March that ‘compulsory acquisition might be part of the future’.[1]
NSW Labor’s plan to force people out of their homes to allow properties to be seized and sold to developers will be strongly opposed by the NSW Liberals & Nationals.
Labor’s plans are a consequence of years of failing to plan properly for growth, failing to release sufficient land, and failing to control the costs of infrastructure necessary for new homes.
The NSW Liberals & Nationals have detailed positive policies to address Sydney’s home affordability crisis, accelerate the release of housing and employment land, and put downward pressure on government imposed infrastructure charges for housing and employment land, by injecting transparency and opening it to contestability.
The NSW Liberals & Nationals will strongly oppose NSW Labor’s plan to forcibly seize peoples homes to make up further failures on Sydney’s new housing needs.[1] Sky News interview with The Hon. Kristina Keneally MP, 12 March 2010.
NSW Libs & Nats Call For Mandatory Care Plans For Parents
Shadow Minister for Community Services, Pru Goward, will table a Private Members Bill in the New South Wales Parliament today which will ensure parents of children at risk of harm are required to take proper care and responsibility for their children.
Auditor General Finds Children’s Commission Not Keeping Them Safe
Shadow Minister for Community Services Pru Goward today said the latest Auditor General’s report Working With Children Check showed once again the incompetent State Labor Government continues to deliver spin over substance.
Power Increases Too Tough On Families
Shadow Minister for Energy Duncan Gay today called on NSW Labor to reject IPART’s recommended electricity price rises.
IPART today released its final determination on electricity retail prices for the 3 years to June 2013, recommending total increases of between 46 and 64 per cent.
