Giving Heritage A Voice

NSW Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell today announced a State Liberal/Nationals Government would appoint a Minister for Heritage to protect historical and culturally significant items for future generations.

A NSW Liberal/Nationals Government will also overhaul the operations of the Heritage Council to provide greater certainty and transparency in decision making.

Coalition Amendments A Win For Accountability And Child Protection

In a major win for the protection of children, amendments to the ChildrenLegislation Amendment (Wood Inquiry Recommendations) Bill 2009 proposed by theNSW Liberal/Nationals passed through the NSW Parliament, Shadow Minister forCommunity Services Pru Goward said.

Perhaps, given the size of Sydney, the numbers of homes and travel between suburbs involved it might be time for contracts to be given to local Councils, who already have the necessary equipment and staff to undertake such things as basic maintenance and inspections.
