There could only be a change of government across NSW if seats like Tamworth changed hands at the 2011 election, NSW Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell said today.
Mr O’Farrell’s comments followed an announcement that the current Tamworth MP intended to re-contest the seat.
“NSW desperately needs a change of government at the next election and that requires the Liberal and Nationals parties to win seats we don’t currently hold,” Mr O’Farrell said.
“Tamworth is one of the key seats Andrew Stoner and I are seeking to win so we can achieve a change of government at the March 2011 poll,” he said.
“At the State election, people will face a simple choice: to back Labor and re-elect the incompetent Rees Government, or vote for change and elect a Liberal/Nationals Government.
“But the Liberal/Nationals won’t be able to form government unless we win additional seats across the State, and that includes Tamworth.
“My energies will be devoted to helping the Coalition’s candidate win the seat of Tamworth so that people in the area – and across the State – can be rid of Labor and again have a voice in government.
“Andrew Stoner and I are determined to end Labor’s Sydney-centric administration and ensure the interests of all of the State are again reflected in all government deliberations and decisions.
“We will continue to put forward practical plans to improve the State, whether it is our proposal to cut payroll tax and save jobs or improve hospitals by introducing smaller health districts with their own boards.
“Andrew Stoner and I are committed to fixing the mess Labor has made of NSW. We will stand up for the forgotten families in Tamworth and right across NSW,” Mr O’Farrell said. |

A resounding YES to recall. The people of this state are feeling totally helpless in the face of the ALP disregard for it's supposed role and contempt for the welfare of the people of this state.
While I believe it is possible to approach the Governor with a "Peoples Mandate" (for wont of a better term) there is no easy, official path to follow. The threat of recall would hopefully be enough to "keep the bastards honest" and working.
Now to get the message across to the people.

I take it this is not to be confused with the NSW Liberal's proposal for a Open Government Commissioner.
However I have perused the NSW Liberal's website and I cannot find any more information about such a public service commission. Where can I read more about this proposal?

A future Liberal/Nationals Government cannot achieve solving the problems of this state and successfully implement our policies and outcomes without the public service. For too long, public servants have been punished for the misdeeds of their political masters, discouraged from showing initiative or making decisions - and the State has suffered as a consequence. I believe the State’s public service should be revitalised - not denigrated.
The Liberal/Nationals and I believe in a world-class public service that:
• attracts and nurtures the best talent;
• has the confidence and skills to make and implement decisions, and;
• offers government the frank and fearless advice required to meet people’s needs.
I am determined to give it fresh life, restore its reputation for excellence, lift its productivity and enhance its independence and professionalism so it can deliver better outcomes for the people of this State.
I will be outlining in greater detail the Public Service Commission in the near future.
